FREE THE NIPPLEat theGlobal Gathering XX

Long before AI moderation and algorithmic bias became mainstream concerns, Free The Nipple was asking a fundamental question about digital platforms: who gets to be visible, and whose bodies and expression get censored?

Let’s take that question beyond the screen and into our lived experience. During the Global Gathering, join me for informal, topless-friendly beach time and sea-side conversations about platform governance, bodily autonomy, and digital rights.

Topless is welcome, never required.
Come to learn, talk, sunbathe, or simply enjoy the beach.

WHEN:
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the Global Gathering 6:30pm-7:30pm

WHERE:
Praia da Poça (click for location)

What is it? Why is it? Can I?

FREE THE NIPPLE

Free The Nipple is often remembered as a social media slogan, but it is also one of the earliest and most visible grassroots movements to challenge platform governance around bodies, gender, and visibility online.
Emerging alongside the rise of Instagram-era social media, the movement exposed how digital platforms increasingly shape not only what bodies can be seen, but also which forms of advocacy, artistic expression, health information, and autonomy are considered acceptable in public life. Long before widespread public conversations about algorithmic bias, AI moderation, or platform accountability, activists challenging the censorship of “female-presenting nipples” were already confronting opaque moderation systems, inconsistent enforcement, and the unequal treatment of bodies online.
